Dentists in Southern Indiana advanced study club

On June 2nd I met with three other dentists from Bloomington and Nashville Indiana. We met for 2 hrs where we discussed differnet aspects of implant and restorative dentistry..we talked about sinus grafting and how it helps in providing a better implant foundation for pts.. we talked about esthetic gum lifting( Periodontal Plastic surgery) and how we can improve pts smiles.. by exposing their natural tooth structure.. All of the dentists in attendence have been in their dental practices for 20 yrs or more so it is a very experienced group of dentists..Dr whitlock showed a case where he did veneers on one of his pts. that I had done some gum lifting on to improve her overall smile.. she had 10 veneers placed after about 2 months of healing from her gum surgery.. She was very pleased with her final smile.. I also talked about how the dental laser can improve pts. gum disease and how it can remove the infected gums and stimulate the gums to heal better so pts can keep their teeth longer.. we will meet again on July 7th to discuss more current dental topics and how to improve our pts lives thru modern advanced periodontal and restorative dentistry..

Laser used to treat Gum disease

I just saw one of my patients this afternoon that I used my periodontal laser to treat her generalized gum disease two years ago and today her mouth is stable and healthy.. By arresting her gum disease she has a lower risk for other systemic diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, arthritis etc..I have been using this dental laser with our pts now for almost three years with very nice results.. I will continue use this technology for in South Central Indiana and Indiapolis as a modern and almost painless way to treat their chronic periodontal infections.. I have also used this laser to remove unhealthy tissue in the mouth as well as for treating patients who are "tongue tied".. This laser allows us to remove the muscular frenum which is too strongly attached to the gums and lip and allow for more normal muscle movements...this procedure can be done painlessly and without sutures..

Weekend with family..

I left saturday morning from Bloomington, drove thru Indianapolis and arrived in Chicago to see my oldest brother coach his Carl Sandburg Eagles baseball team to their 6th straight Regional Championship on May 30th.. He recently was inducted into the Illinois baseball coaches hall of fame as one of the states best HS coaches... On Sunday, 7 of my family members went to see the Chicago Cubs play the SL Cardinals and unfortunately they lost 9-1 but I got the see Albert Pujois hit 3 homeruns in one game..wow what an example of a great hitter.. I really enjoyed spending time with my two brothers and their families.. On saturday night we all joined at my brother Dave's house to watch the Blackhawks win the first Stanley Cup playoff game 6-5.. one of the highest scoring games in hockey playoff history.. One of the neatest things I experienced this weekend was during the beginning of the national anthem when they released a bald eagle from center field, it flew around the infield while two singers sang the National Anthem then it landed on it's trainers arm.. What a wonderful patriotic moment!!
This week I am meeting with 4 local dentists for our monthly advanced study club meeting where we all get together to discuss pts that we have seen the previous month so we all put our heads together to come up with treatment that would be best for them..Sometimes this treatment includes dental implants, laser surgery, gum lifting, crown lengthening, orthodontics, gum surgery, etc. Ths group of dentists have been in practice for at least 20 years so they are very experienced in their professons..we usually meet for about 2 hrs once a month..
